Sherrill O’Connor-Sraj

Sherrill has been the Principal Lawyer of the firm for 35 years and has been practising law for 37 years. She is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for clients, and has a particular interest in access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

Sherrill started her law studies at the London School of Economics, completing her degree at the University of Melbourne. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts, with Honours in languages, a Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne, and she studied music at the Vienna Conservatorium of Music.

Sherrill was a German to English translator for the UNESCO, OPEC and the WHO in Vienna, and was appointed as the translator of the first Constitution of the Republic of Slovenia by the Slovenian Parliament.

Matija Sraj

Matija is the firm’s Practice Manager. Matija was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2014 and completed part of his legal training at this firm and in a community legal centre for refugees. He is also a communications specialist with experience working as an adviser to a federal politician, at a communications agency and as a communications consultant.

Matija has significant experience working in law, government, education and NGOs. He holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.

Pavel Sraj

Pavel is a family law specialist, with significant experience across property, estate and criminal matters. Pavel completed his legal training in our firm and was admitted to practice as a lawyer in 2014. He has also contributed to our interstate and international matters, as well as our pro-bono program.

Pavel is currently working as a family violence lawyer in the Northern Territory and consults at O’Connor Sraj Lawyers on pro-bono matters.

Pavel holds a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne, and has previously worked as a radio journalist for the ABC and SBS, and DW in Germany.

Paralegal and administration

Our firm is supported by trainee lawyers, paralegals and administration staff who are all law students. Our staffers have gone on to work in government, corporations, unions and NGOs.
